A first-timer's guide to ordering at Yolk & Folk
Never been in before? Here's how it works, what to order, and the one thing regulars always get.

First time wandering in? Welcome. We're a relaxed sort of place, but every cafe has its own little rhythm, so here's everything you need to know to feel like a regular by the time your coffee lands.
How it works
We're walk-ins only — no bookings, ever — so just grab any free table when you arrive. Order at the counter, take your little numbered stand back to your seat, and we'll bring everything over to you. Coffee usually beats the food to the table by a minute or two.
Weekend mornings can get busy and there's occasionally a short wait for a table, but it moves quickly and there's no pressure to rush off once you're in. Lingering is encouraged. The window bench is for exactly that.
What to order
If you want the crowd-pleaser, it's the Sunrise Stack — buttermilk pancakes, warm maple, whipped honey butter. Can't go wrong. But the regulars' quiet favourite is the Big Yolk with an extra hash brown on the side, and the kitchen will happily tweak most plates if you ask nicely.
Dietary needs are no trouble — vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are marked on the menu, and we'd always rather you flagged an allergy than wondered. Come hungry, take your time, and we'll see you again soon.
Pancake purist. Will not be rushed on the hollandaise, and whisks the batter by hand every single morning.

RecipeHow we get our pancakes that fluffy
The secret isn't fancy — it's buttermilk, a gentle hand, and knowing exactly when to stop whisking. Here's how we do it on the flat-top every morning.

You don't need an hour and a sink full of pans. Here's the soft, savoury scramble we make on our own busy mornings.
Cafe lifeMeet Rosa, the baker behind our weekend pastries
She's in before the birds, laminating dough by hand. We sat down with Rosa between trays to talk butter, patience, and bad weather.
